Vito J. Paen


Vito J. Pennabene was born on September 12, 1924 to parents Antonio and Anna Pennabene. Louis lived at 38 High Street in Rye, New York back when Rye was a small town with a population of 9,865. Louis's father owned this home and it was valued at $3,800 ($72,200 in today’s dollars).

Louis lived with his parents and four younger siblings, Louis, Rose, Carmela, and Anthony. At one point the family would shorten their name from Pennabene to Paen.

Vito enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941-1945.

In 1973 Vito married Laura Anna Mable. For 20 years he installed carpets n the Putnam-Westchester- Dutchess County area. He retired in 1985

Vito Joseph Paen a retired contractor and a former Mahopac resident died of cancer, Saturday May 7,1994 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center at Castle Point in Dutchess County. He was 69. He was pre-deceased by his wife who died in 1991

In addition to his mother of Port Chester he was survived by two daughters Myra Tompkins of Poughkeepsie and Loraine Toohey of Peekskill a son Elvin Tompkins of Jackson, FL, two sisters Rose Salvatore of Rye and Millie Curran Laconia NH, five grandchildren and three great-grand children.
